Jane Hading, French actress who was member of the troupe of the Comedie Francaise from 1892 together with Aristides (also Jacques) Damala who was a Greek military officer before he became actor. He married Sarah Bernhardt in 1882 in London but the marriage was not a good one largely because of Damala's addiction to drugs. He died in 1889, aged only 34. They are seen here in the play "Maitre de Forges". Photograph by Chalot & Cie. 18 Rue Vivienne, Paris. Ca 1883. Sizes ca 4 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches / 109 x 165 mm. Condition is good with some tiny lighter toned spots and minor surface wear. Some discolouring of edges. Original is sharp and a bit darker grey/brown toned (Scan shows a bit too orange/brown).
