Reverend Arthur Penrhyn Stanley (1815-1881).
Regius professor at Oxford and Dean of Westminster.
Travelled to Palestine and Egypt and wrote "Sinai and Palestine in connection
with their history". When the Prince of Wales toured the East he accompanied him.
For he wanted to compare the written history of the bible with the historic sites, he
was always searching for support to be able to conduct research and in 1865
the "Palestine Exploration fund" was founded.

Condition is very good with light scuffing.
Original is darker and sepia toned (scan shows light brown-orange).
