Paris - overview of the World fair of 1867, for the near surroundings still
look like a building site, probably from before the opening. At left the 'Pont d'Iena' which now runs to the Eiffel tower. At the left also visible the tomb of 'Les Invalides'. The road in front -on this side of the Seine- is the 'Avenue de New York'. On the other side of the river you've got at the left side of the bridge the 'Quai Branly' and at the right side 'Port de Suffren'. The area in the foreground are now the 'Jardins du Trocadero'. Unmounted albumen photograph by unknown photographer. Ca 1867. Sizes ca 10 x 6,5 inches. Condition is good with discoloured areas (left, center and a bit at right); some ironed out creases and a small closed tear at left part of upper corner. Original is sharp and medium brown toned with discolouring a bit less striking. At reverse remains of glue. Sold |
