The photograph shows the 6th city hall of Chicago (1885-1908) and behind that
-the high building on the corner- the chamber of commerce which was build between 1888-1889 and demolished in 1928. The architects were Edward Baumann and Harris Huehl. A sign on the right building reads "Julius Wegma.. architec.." An unmounted vintage albumen photograph by unknown photographer from c. 1890's. Numbered in the negative "10032". Sized ca 7 1/8 x 9 1/2 inches / 182 x 240 mm. Condition is good with some light spots; a small tear at rigth edge and discolouring at left and bottom edges. Original is sharp and slightly lighter brown toned with discoloured edges light brown toned. Sky is broken white toned. (scan shows a bit too dark purplish). Price € 50 |
