  Alexander Cambell Fraser (1819-1914).
  Professor in philosophy in Edinburgh.
  Some of his works are "Essays in Philosophy" (1856) and "The Philosophy of
  Theism" (1896).
  Around the time the above photograph was taken (1843) he became minister
  at Cramond and in 1845 he was appointed as professor of Logic at New College,
  Edinburgh, Scotland.
 
  Titled in pencil below the image "I  Professor Fraser -  New College Edinbro".
 
  Calotype saltprint by David Octavius Hill & Robert Adamson.  c 1843.

  Size ca 5 5/8 x 7 3/4 inches / ca 143 x 196 mm.
  Mounted on thin (later ?) cardboard.

  Condition is good with some light-medium spots and with at bottom right some
  remains of glue (?). Overall some grade of fading.
  Original is slightly more sepia toned in the center (scan shows a bit greenish).
