  Captain Richard Francis Burton 1821-1890.
  English explorer, author and linguist.
  Explored together with Richard Speke Africa where they discovered lake
  Tanganyika.
  Served in the army of the East India Company and later in the Crimea.
  As consul for the British Foreign Office he was sent to a.o. Brasil and Syria.
  Two titles of books by him are "Personal Narrative of a Pilgrimage to El-Medinah
  and Meccah" and "Falconry in the Valley of the Indus"

  Mounted on original mount with printed border and his name in letterprint.
 
  Sized ca. 3,5 x 4,5 inches / 90 x 115 mm. (photo) 
 
  Condition is excellent. Mount with soiling; a few fingerprint marks and some
  creasing at right edge area.
  Original is sharp and slightly darker toned.
