The Eastern Window
Lady Franklin wife of the arctic explorer John Franklin. Her maiden name was Jane Griffin.
She was the first European woman to travel overland from Port Phillip to Sydney and later from
Hobart to Macquarie Harbour, Australia where she was stationed with her husband who was governor of Van Diemen's land. She renamed Van Diemen's land into Tasmania.
She supported 4 arctic expeditions to find her lost husband who was trying to find the passage to the North West.
