Lord Ashley and 8th Earl of Shaftesbury.
Son of Anthony Ashley Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury and Lady Emily Caroline Catherine Frances Cowper.
In 1857 he married Lady Harriet Augusta Anna Seymourina Chichester.
He comitted suicide by shooting himself.
