Josiah Mason (1795-1881), pen maker and philanthropist.
Started his life poor and with nearly no education he managed to become the worlds largest pen inventor and maker.
He became an important philantropist of the 19th century using the fortune he made with his companies to open almshouses and orphanages.

Size ca 3 7/8 x 5 1/4 inches (photo) and 4 1/8 x 6 3/8 inches (mount).

Condition is very good with some light surface wear and some very tiny white spotting.
Mount with some minor soiling.
Original is sharp and a bit more towards brown toned (scan shows a bit too purplish).
